INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human  rights violations in our world today. Gender inequality persists worldwide. Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls will require more vigorous efforts, including legal frameworks, to encounter deeply rooted gender based discrimination that often results from patriarchal attitudes and related social norms. Its commemorated on 25th November annually.

Some of the major challenges to efforts to prevent and end violence against women and girls world wide include;

  • Lack of funds
  • Female genital mutilation/ cutting
  • Ignorance
  • Fear among the women and girls

The fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV) is one of EASSI’s causes to ensure equality and peace
