TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) is a not for profit organization which promotes regional trade and economic integration in East Africa by working closely with East African Community (EAC) institutions, national governments, and business and civil society organizations. TMEA has its headquarters in Nairobi with branches in Arusha, Bujumbura, Dar es Salaam, Kampala and Kigali.

TradeMark East Africa seeks to support East African integration by unlocking economic potential through:

* A reduction in transport and related costs along the key corridors in East Africa;
* Supporting EAC institutions to develop a comprehensive framework for regional integration;
* Supporting partner states to substantially increase the implementation of a comprehensive framework for regional integration; and
* Engaging private sector and civil society to positively influence regional integration policies and practices for growth in trade.

Funding support

Trademark East Africa is currently funding EASSI's Project on Engendering Wealth in the East African Community. This initiative has its foundation in the East African Common Market and the attendant protocols and targets the five EAC member states. It involves, among others establishing five resource and information centers at five borders in East Africa.  These include Busia on the Kenya /Uganda, border, Namanga, on the Kenya /Tanzania border, Kanyaru, on the Burundi/Rwanda Border, Mutukula, on the Uganda/Tanzania border and Katuna on the Uganda/Rwanda border. The goal of the project is to eliminate gender disparity in trade in the EAC by capitalizing on the EAC Common Market and Customs Union Protocol by 2015.
